A (late) christmas present!

Assignment: B&S

This report shows the total number of points awarded for each section. The maximum number of points is 400, to pass you need a score of 320. Section Summary: Section Max Actual Points Points
General Con: 100 90
Documentation: 70 70
OOD: 30 30
GUI: 40 27
Locking: 80 80
Data Store: 40 40
Network Server: 40 30
Total: 400 367

Pretty good overall, I think I lost some points in the GUI by not implementing the database selection dialog everywhere. When you choose local, you just get the file selection dialog immediately.

Special thank you to Andrew Monkhouse and his SCJD book. Helped me alot.

Congrad on your good score!

What do you mean by not implementing the database selection dialog everywhere..
Could you please explain a bit more?

How many search fields you have in your GUI / six?

Thanks

Henry,

I implemented the search part with a tabbed pane, since I needed to search for name and/or location and also be able to search thru all the fields. So I seperated these two in their own panes. So I ended up with 3 fields:
- one field that goes thru all fields on it's own tab
- and name and location on one tab.

The specs said that I should implement the same database selection dialog everywhere, as in reuse. And remember the last location / host etc. I didn't do that for the selection for the local database.

I don't remember the specs precisely, and don't have them right here since I'm on my vacation (Aruba). So things could be different. If you are also doing the SCJD assignment, I strongly suggest to read the specs over and over again.

Furthermore I really recommend the book of Andrew Monkhouse on the SCJD topic. It really is a life saver in more then one occasion.

Sander
