Today, took the exam. Score was 44%. Took the same exam on Janualy. The score was 26%. Took SCJA exam last October. The score was 80%(Passed.) Started learning Java last September. Thanks to read my Java learning story. Now I will promise that next time I will pass the SCJP EXAM. If I had known this site earlier, I would have passed the SCJP exam, I am positive.

Mitsuo Kamada best of luck for your examination.

One more thing I would like to add is , learning and scoring are two completely different things in my opinion , Let me give you an example from my past .

Learning is only possible by working with real problems.
I have given SCJP 1.4 exam last year and scored 91% by preparing only 3 weeks and that too after office hours.Like an hour or two in a day.But yes I knew java.

Just after that I have given SCBCD .I have prepared 2 weeks only.I scored 93%.
I gave those exams because I wanted a promotion.(sounds silly but in my organization it works like this way).

My manager has now asked me to give SCBCD exam.10 days back I have started preparing and I will be giving the exam on 4th May and I am very sure that I will get more that 90%.But believe me I have deployed just one session bean till now and have no experience in EJB.

So the conclusion is that I have given the exams for scoring , so I read throughly the exam objectives , but I have not concentrated on learning the topics.

I know I have scored average but my concepts are not yet firm.I have posted replies in quite a few forums (like servlets) but most of my suggestions turned out wrong or not perfect.Still lot to learn.

So if you want to give exam for scoring high then study with the objectives in mind.

When I prepare for a certification exam I do the following steps:
- read book twice
- do all the exercices
- search for some mocks at internet

When I score 80% in the mocks/exercices I consider myself prepared.

I also try to code samples when I have many doubts, to see how it really works.

Thanks for the advice and encouragement. But my intention of posting is not to get advice for me, but to encourage any challengers failed in the exam like me. I have already decided to pass the SCJP, SCBCD, SCWCD and SCDJWS as a step to become a Millionaire. I know that firm decision makes dream come true. This site is worthwhile to get tips to improve my learning method of Java. Again, I will promise to pass the SCJP exam next time. Are you challenger? Then, let's never give up, never give up and never give up. We are supposed to pass the SCJP exam after all. just never give up and continue to make an effort. It's very simple. Anyone can do that. You can continue to make an effort, and I will do so also.

jan, thanks a lot. I am very happy to be called a future Millionaire. I know that "Think and Grow Rich" is a fact. By next challenge, I will get through K&B seriously, and try Enthuware soft(already downloaded.)

Suleman,
Thanks for having the interest to me. Honestly though, I didn't understand your post exactly, since I am not good at English. And please make sure that I have NOT read K&B seriously YET. Just for your info, my score were:

First challenge: 26%(19 points)
- Declaration 58%
- Flow 36%
- API 0%
- Parallel 12%
- Object 20%
- Collection 10%
- Java basic 36%

Seconf challenge: 44%(32 points)
- Declaration 33%
- Flow 54%
- API 60%
- parallel 25%
- Object 20%
- Collection 50%
- Java basic 63%

I have set the target score to 72%(52 points). When I have got the score, I will be reporting the story on "How to up SCJP score from 44% to 72% in a month" for Java beginners like me.

saqib,(Sorry. The spell in my e-mail was wrong.)

Thanks for your nice advice!!! (vie e-mail)
Yes. I will follow your advice, that is,

"Read K&B once and point out areas in which you have doughts, repeat those areas again and again untill you are satisfied"

More than that, advice on two minutes drills, and how to study Mocks.

Mitsuo (seems to take time for Java beginner like me, though)
