Hello All,
To begin with, i am new to these forums and so pardon me if i am asking this in the wrong section.
I recently cleared the SCJP 1.5 exam and am looking forward to gaining further expertise in Java.I am interested in Web Services development and so the SCDJWS seem to be what i should be aiming for.
But i have a small question, most of the people i have seen posting here seem to have gained the WCD and BCD certification before going on to the JWS, so it is in anyway helpful to go for those before trying the JWS?
I looked at the certification path that they have shown at Whizlabs and it recommends giving the BCD before the JWS.
Any words of advice from the experienced would be helpful.

Hi,

First of all congrats

Well, my advice is to go for SCWCD first, to take a look at the web components world! It's really great, specially with the HFSJ book.

One constraint may be the environment of your work, i mean, the type of work you'll be doing in a particular company, whether it's web components stuff, web services, etc...

After all, it's your choice

So take your time, think very well and go for the thing you feel you can do your best at.

Best of luck ...

Thanks Vassili,
My work can sortof depend on what i get specialized on.After that i guess the doors open if they need me for it

So if i do a JWS then i can ask for work on SOA webservices, which i see is something the markets seem to be moving to.Given that, i also think that web components are not going anywhere for a long time.

What i meant in my question was, "is doing the WCD and BCD helpful before doing the JWS?", as in, will there be more clarity when i do JWS if i study for a WCD.

Thanks for your comments though..

Ummm!

I don't agree. Do you have done any market analysis? On behalf of what
statistics do you say this? Instead I would say, market is moving towards
web services.

Anyways it is matter of individual choice!

Thanks,

I think knowing about web services would require a substantial knowledge on XML/SOA and of course the WCD.

Congrats on your SCJP!

Thanks,

Sorry if i phrased it wrong, but what i meant was that web components will be in the market for a long time and they are not about to go away anytime soon.
I too agree that Web Services will be the future, but that will still be a couple of years down the line viz why i was asking whether i should dive into it directly or rather take the WCD route to it.
