Greetings,
Yesterday I have cleared SCWCD 1.4. I prepared the exam with the Mannings book and the specs; I have also bought a commercial mock exam software, which were very useful, expecially for the first month, when I thought that my book was good enough for the exam.
Personally, I think the Mannings lacks a lot of information and contains a lot of errors, due to changes between 1.3 and 1.4 version of the same exam.
I think I could not get a better result, at least with my preparation: I could spend about five months, one hour a day and not always every day. But luckily the exam does not require a lot of continuous study: it can be easily split into small units that can be studied in about an hour
The exam contained only one drag&drop question. I failed one question about design
patterns, and I can consider myself very lucky: I have never understood the questions about design patterns.
Moreover, I failed a question about the deployment descriptor and external resources /
ejb (ejb-ref ...)
Finally, the exam was simpler than I expected.
Many thanks to JavaRanch guys for their support: maybe I could get a better result with your book (I don't remember its name), but I had already bought Mannings...
Final note: the exam I had cleared was cx-801-082, which is an UPGRADE.
Some days ago I have cleared the correct exam with 94% score
