Hi Ranchers,

I cleared SCJP 5.0 exam today with 83 %. Thanks to all of you for contributing to my success.

I am preparing for this test from quite some time but from last seven days I was working very hard.

My break up of score is:

There are 72 questions in this exam. You answered 60 questions correctly which gives you a score of 83%.

Declarations, Initialization and Scoping........83%
Flow Control...................90%
API Contents...................70%
Concurrency....................100%
OO Concepts....................80%
Collections and Generics.......90%
Fundamentals...................72%

Yes I scored highest in concurrency and Collections. Most hardest topics in SCJP exam. I think it was because I was concentrating too much on these two topics and forgot the fundamentals.

I read K&B Book three times and I bought Whizlab last week. I was getting around 70-85 % in the mock tests and finally managed to get 83% in real exam today.

Anyways some tips: Real exam is tough and shouldn't be taken for granted. One should practice lot of mock exam before going for the real exam and at last practice is the key to success.

Regards
Padma

Hi Kalpana

No I didn't refer any other material on those two topics apart from k&B book but I did practice some mock exams on these topics from

http://www.danchisholm.net/july21/topic/index.html.

I have few suggestions, while reading Threads from k &B note which objects are used for locking. If you understand that, you will know in and out of threads and you would be good to go for exam.

Finally for Generics and Collections I did mock exams from Java Beat site. The link to that is in SCJP FAQ.

Finally Whizlab mock exams has good questions on these topics too. If you understand those questions, you will do well in those topics.

Regards
Padma

Hi Freddy

Thanks a lot for wishes. I am targeting for SCJD and EJB 3.0 Certification, So I guess I am going for SCJD first and then EJB Certification.

K&B book is sufficient to pass the exam. Make sure you understand every thing and more than one pass is required to understand and retain the information mentioned in there.

Secondly write lot of sample programs for to verify all the facts/concepts mentioned in that.

And lastly do lot of mock exams after finishing the book. I used Whizlab but I used trial version of Enthuware and I found it good too. I didn't had lot of time otherwise I would have bought that and practiced. Whizlab software is also very good. Make sure you practice lot of mock exams before going for the real exam and finally don't forget to learn from your mistakes.

Hope this helps

Regards
Padma
