Hi,
First of all i would like to mention that i have been a silent observer all these days on JavaRanch. The site was like a mentor all the while during my exam preparation. I would like to thank JavaRanch - which is each and everyone of you who have provided with helpful posts on various technical topics as well as on the exam itself.
Well, i have cleared the
SCJP 5.0 Upgrade Exam today with 40 out of 46 answers correct, which is 86%. Exciting!
I spent about two months on the preparation @ about 1-2 hour per day. I am already certified on the version 1.4 of the exam and hence required relatively lesser time in preparation. I used the following during my preparation: Javaranch, Sierra & Bates SCJP Book, Master Exam Available with the Book, Purchased the Whizlabs SCJP 5.0 Preparation Kit and Marcus Green Mock Exam. I did write some small programs too to burn it in, but since i am experienced and also use
Java in my day-to-day work, effort spent on this part was minimal.
My scores in the various mock exams were:
28-July: 80% - Whizlabs Diagnostic
04-Aug: 82% - Learn Key MasterTest 1
31-July: 65% - Whizlabs Practice 01
01-Aug: 71% - Whizlabs Practice 02
02-Aug: 89% - Marcus Green Mock Exam
03-Aug: 76% - Whizlabs Practice 03
04-Aug: 87% - Whizlabs Practice 04
08-Aug: 97% - Whizlabs Final Exam
09-Aug: 65% - Learn Key MasterTest 2 (Fail)
The exam was relatively easy when compared with the mock exams and preparation kits available. There were about 8 drag and drop questions, with most questions
testing me on the new features as this was an upgrade exam (i guess). I think i missed out on questions mostly based on "API Contents".
Advice to all the JavaRanchers appearing for the exam - take as many mock exams available, relax and sleep well before the exam and pace yourself well in the exam.
Phew! That was a long and exhaustive post... Well, i guess that covers up for not posting for so long in these forums
