I have a seemingly simple question. If someone tells me they are Java Certified and they scored a 99, is there a way to verify this? Like can I goto sun.com and plug a name in and it will tell me if they are truly certified?

To the best of my knowledge, there is no such way for you to look up another person's information. This is primarily for privacy reasons. The certified individual can go to Sun's Cert Manager (http://www.certmanager.net/sun/), log in, and select the "publish credentials" option. This will allow them to request a Credential Verification Report be "published" for you (they will need your e-mail address). You will receive an e-mail with a URL and access code to view the report. The report does not however include the score; only the certifications they hold.
