Hello, I received my SCJP certification almost two months ago. I am looking for a job as a programmer, but I am thinking of becoming a SCWCD to improve my chances of employment. What are the best books/net resources for a novice/rookie like myself, who has only run examples from the J2EE tutorials?

Dear Wai,
I hope you have checked the SCWCD Forum at http://www.javaranch.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=18.
Still to answer your queries, you can find lot of valuable resources on SCWCD following the links below:
1.) http://www.whizlabs.com/products/scwcd/scwcd-faq.html
2.) Links page from scwcd forum
FYI, your experience on J2EE will be of great worth for this exam and even lot more related certifications like Test 483 (Enterprise Connectivity).
Hope this helps.
Regards and best wishes

I chose to take the same course of certifications, but it seems experience is far more important than certifications in some markets.
After the SCWCD, I intend to tackle the SCJD exam and then maybe the architects' exam. -- The hardest part for me, despite wide experience with C++ and VB, is finding someone that will hire on the basis of the SCJP exam alone. I have to admit that I'm very frustrated at the results.

I suppose I should add out of deference that I have purchased WhizLabs SCWCD and XML products, and as usual am finding them very helpful.
I've been reading and practicing Java for about a year now on my own machine, and its a bit like being thrown into the deep end without some practical problems.
Fortunately in my career that's the usual way of doing things.... so its no big deal.

Dear Paul,
I just want to emphasize on one point, which i've experience while giving any certification exam. I personally feel that more than the certificate, its the Certification Process which is more valuable and worth its effort.
Hope this helps
