carl, Thanks for the info.
Shanti, yes if luck is on your side, you may get the product simulator from whizlabs which has mock tests for Test 488. though I am not fully aware of the selection procedure, its a kind of lucky draw among the participants in this thread.
I am wishing to see myself as the winner

Dear Arun,
I don't have the inside out information of the selection procedure but roughly 4 people are drawn randomly among all who took part in this forum at the end of the wook.
More information if there is any is with Carl.

Even without the book giveaway, this is the best java site on the web for people looking for java information. I was selected to receive the J2ME book a few weeks ago and I have. Thanks Java Ranch. The GiveAway is truly a great benefit.

Hi Pradeep,
I am preparing WAS 4.0 certification. I heard some good feedback about your product, but I haven’t get chance to try it. How do you compare the difficulty of your mock exam with the real one? Is the difficulty of your mock exam at the same level as your quick revision tips? Dose mock exam come with answer and explanation? Thanks.

There is no doubt about it that this site has good collection of java resources for learning people. It helped to me a lot for SCJP2 and SWCD preparation.

Dear Ren,
Thanks for raising this question. It seems you havn't tried our FREE Trial Version. Please download it from our site, if you haven't done that:
http://www.whizlabs.com/websphere/try.html
Regarding the difficulty level, the feedback we've got as of now from our users says that the difficulty level of our product is little higher than the actual exam. I can't compare Revision Tips as there is no benchmark for it.
Hope this helps a bit.
I look forward to seeing your valuable feedback on our product. Do mail us your suggestions/ideas at webspherewhiz@whizlabs.com

Hi Pradeep,
I just went through the Trial Version of this product. I found that time given in Trial Version is too long. It actually lower the difficulty level. Two more questions:
1. Is the mock exam the same as the Trial Version, you know your score at the end, but you don't have chance to go back to check why I am wrong on this question, what is the right answer.
2. How many Quick Revision Tips for a registered user? Are they similar to the sample or a little difficult?
Thanks,
Ren

Dear Ren,
Thanks for your query. I just noticed that i forgot to answer one of your queries from your previous message. Yes, our product gives exhaustive explainations for each and every question.
Thanks for your suggestion about Time for Trial Version; we will lessen it.
You can have a report for Trial Version; from which you can go to each and every question and read the explainations. The Registered Version has 100 Tips; i think tips should not be seen as tough or easy, they should cover as much as topics as possible within a short period and thats the difference b/w the Trial and Registered version.
Hope this helps.
Regards and Best Wishes

Dear Varun,
Thanks for the query. We've not yet planned anything on this side.
But we would definitely like to explore the opportunity and if looks suitable, we'll go about it. But our current focus is on J2EE Techs.
Regards and best wishes

Dear Pradeep,
The Master CIW Enterprise Developer track consists of the SCJP, the IBM UML 486 exam and another J2EE exam among others.
And no where among the umpteen sites have i been able to find demo tests for these tests. Have a look at this link http://www.ciwcertified.com/certifications/mced.asp?comm=home&llm=3

Varun

I am interested in gaining some sort of Java certification adn I am not sure which certification I should aim to get as a first step and how to go about it.
Although I have worked as a Java developer for a few years I have not yet tried to gain any certification.
I am currently working on J2EE, UML, Web services stuff. Previously I have worked n both Java client (applets, applications, GUI etc) and also server (threads and JDBC etc) developments.
Any suggestions?

Hi Suhel,
Why don't you start with SCJP and then move on to advanced certifications like XMl, SCWCD, SCJD, SCEA or Weblogic/Websphere and UML. Webservices is really in demand here; many companies are looking for people who have atleast some knowledge of it. As far as i know XML Cert covers some aspects of it.
good luck

Welcome here Pradeep.
Two simple questions for you
1) On wich WAS release test 488 is based on. 3.5, 4, AE, AEs ?<
2) Is WebSphere@Whiz certified by IBM or is it something developped on our own ?

Dear Bill,
Thanks for the questions. Here are the answers to them:
1.) WebSphere@Whiz is for Test 488 - IBM WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Single Server Edition for Multiplatforms, V4.0
2.) IBM doesn't certify third party certification products. Thus our product is not certified, though it will help you get certified
Thanks and regards

Dear Pradeep !
IBM has categorized the 488 test in 8 topics
1) Do you know if the number of questions will be nearly the same pr topic or is it just randomized?
2) I have practical experience from 3 EJB/VAJ/WAS project, therefore I concider the 2 books mentioned below combined with the websphere@whiz
test to be sufficient materiel to pass.
What is your opinion to this ?
Enterprise Javabeans
O'Reilly
Java Enterprise Programming with IBM WebSphere

Pradeep,
I realize I've used the word certify, but of couerse it was not really the meaning of my question.
I wanted to know if it has been developped in collaboration with IBM, or if it has been approved by the IBM learning center.

Thanks

Dear Tom and Bill,
I apologize for not answering your queries. Somehow i missed them.
To answer Tom : The Distribution of Questions in our product is based on our experience in the actual certification exam and also measured by IBM's Mock Test. Though there is no standard distribution but certainly you will find the distribution close to the actual exam.
Your experience is much more valuable than any material be it a book or WebSphere@Whiz. Surely, the combination of your projects experience and the books + WebSphere@Whiz will help you come out with flying colors in the exam. My best wishes are with you.
Bill : No, our product is neither developed in collaboration with IBM nor approved by IBM. But I have a good news for all of you : If you've been to our site recently, you will be glad to know about our "Certification Guaranteed" Policy. Do visit http://www.whizlabs.com/websphere/websphere.html
Best regards
Pradeep
