Hell, I failed the 158

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi,
no I am not amused.
I knew it would be hard, and I don't have much hands-on-experience with the products. I would take the test next month, but its not possible for political reasons. So next week again.
I found the questions really hard. 2 correct questions more, and I would be a lucky guy. The problems were the IBM product part.
Here's the result:
section (procent of total questions/my result)
Enterprise components (15% / 75 %)
Servlets/JSP (19% / 80%)
Develop clients (8% / 75%)
database, pooling (4% / 50%)
EJB transactions (11%/66%)
Develop with WAStudio (15%/12%) --> una mierda
Assemble (13% / 71%)
Websphere tools (15% / 37%)
Any suggestions for study material for the Websphere Studio development and Websphere tools to validate aspects of the application server, such as security, performance etc. are highly welcome.
Maybe it wasn't a good idea to learn until the last minute. I was very, very tired the afternoon.
Found the WSAD questions very confusing. One of them was clearly a Visual Age question.
O.k. I admit that I was concentrated more on EJB than on the IBM products. This exam really covers a lot of stuff!!!
Hope we will get more discussion in the week to come.

better luck to u all (and to me next week)
Axel

in the afternoon I found some nice resource, especially for starters (the actual test is much more advanced):
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/ad/studioappdev/library/
the online auction demo samples (these are done with Lotus Screen cam. Its huge file, but if you have a fast internet connection and are a starter its worth the effort.
(nice tutorial, but the ddl did not work for me (?)).

Hi Axel,
Thanks for sharing the information. I didnt know about the resources you refered.
I am not sure if you are using Whiz engine from http://www.whizlabs.com/websphere/websphere. They are launching the next version for Test 158 as well.
All the best

Hi Rajat,
I used whizlabs.488 in my preparation. It helped me in some doubts about ejb. But as others reported here, it is not enough to clear the exam.
AGAIN: Please more discussions here.

Hi Axel,
Thanks for your information, it is a great feedback for anyone preparing for the test. I just wondering if there is any difference between 488 and 158 except the VisualAge/WAStudio part? I am currently preparing for 488 now and feel it is difficult.
By the way, did you do the IBM sample test for 488? How is your result?

No, but I am near 90% in the 158 test (think their are two "broken" questions on the sample). Will post the answers later.
Don't expect same or similar questions on the exam. I found them quite different.

Hi Axel,
You will definately clear the exam this time.
Best of luck !!.
Information you have given will definately help every body giving the exam.
I will try to cover IBM products in details.
Thanks,
~Mohit

Axel,
Thanks for your information. You are right, ibm will not show the same or similar questions in its real test. I already knew it when I took ibm 283 this March. I felt I couldn't pass it when I were not sure the exact answers for many questions in the test.
Good luck for your next try!

Hey,
have you ever try the Web Components test? I think it will give you some good stuff to theese applications. Good luck next time.

Hi Axel Janssen !
Your information is just what I needed.
Anyway - Better luck next time.
This is just another example of that Certifications are more likely about the test itself than the content

Hello Axel et. al. !

For WSAD training I can highly recommend the redbook
SG24-6407-00

Hopefully this helps you

And when you finish the above redbook, WSAD Programming Guide(sg24-6585) should be logical next step.
If you are doing something with Websphere, you won't miss Websphere Version4 Application Development Handbook(sg24-6134).
