I am going for IBM 512 and 514. Im using the book "All in One DB2 Administration Exam Guide". That book I am going to use for the 512 (IBM Certified Specialist DB2 UDB V6/V7 User). IBM 514 adds on to the 512 to get a IBM Certified Solutions Expert DB2 UDB v7.1 Family Application Development. There are a number of different types of Certifications you can get including Data Base Administrator. Garth Schneider SCJP2, IBMSD, IBMVJ [ June 08, 2002: Message edited by: garth schneider ]

Probably the same reason I took the exams - because they were free. (IBM is offering free DB2 exams to anyone who can get a 75% or better on the four v7.1 exams at the ICE site.) Bear in mind that not everyone realizes how easy the exam is, and some folks are impressed by sheer number of certifications, not necessarily only by quality. And they are fairly easy. I managed to pass 512 and 513 without too much effort. (Edited to correct the version number *blush*) [ June 11, 2002: Message edited by: Theodore Casser ]

Well, I am thinking of taking the DB2 exam 512 as well. It seems there is a lot of meaningless tools specific things they want you to know. Can anybody summarize the following for 512? 1. How many man-hours of study are required? 2. How hard is it to get 75% and save $150? 3. What books are best for 512? 4. Anything else that is worth knowing before going for it? PS: Its not regarded as anything serious? What the hell, I will still take it.
Hi, You can also download one fast path for DB2 i.e ct28w from IBM site that is very good. If you want to read more books then refer 1. Database Administrator Guide and 2. DB2 SQL Reference, thats enough. Vinay K Singh Tata Infotech Ltd.
