I have my IBM VisualAge Solution Developer. It was going to expire June 30th, 2002. It has just been set to expire Dec 31, 2002. Which means that I will not really have it anymore after that date. Sun Microsystems does not expire there exams. People who took the first SCJP exam are still respected as having that credential. I think that the SCJD exam is very respected in industry. It is also a Certification that will last longer. I do not believe they ever expire or get retired. That said I think the JCert initative is a good idea as well. Also the IBM #486 is a real good learning experience. I will be going for the IBM #157 WSAD test pretty soon to retain the Solution Developer. This will mean that I will have 2 Solution Developers until Dec 31,2002 when I will loose one.
