The username, no of posts, registration period seems to appear along with all the posts. I love this new look. It gives you an idea on who you're talking too. It also helps you identify impersonators from the real ones. Great! Thanks to all at Javaranch!

I'm not sure if I think judging people by the number of posts they've made is such a good thing, but I love the ability to choose a page in a topic without first going to page 1. The bigger lightbulbs are weird but I'll get used to them I suppose.

David,
You're right. I am not judging the knowledge by the number of posts. I was thinking more of impersonators, who post in the forums under the name of sheriffs like Ajith or so. I like the other features too, even the light bulb though it looks more round
Later,

Menon, you didn't say anything about judging people and I didn't read that in. I just think that people will make those judgements as long as the number is listed there. For example, when I saw shailesh's post count above, it gave me a bit of respect although I can't remember the name from anywhere specific -- probably because of cultural differences that make his (or possibly her -- see what I mean? I hope I'm not offending you shailesh) name harder for me to remember. But other than that and the fact that shailesh agreed with me and that his (er, or her) post count was high and that you must have good taste to come to the JavaRanch that much, I can't think of any particular reason for me to respect shailesh more than you. Yet on some level I do. I consider this an impediment to unbiased discussion.

Oh, as for impersonating people, it isn't a big problem -- the name says bartender or sherif or greenhorn or whatever. I can only remember one time a certain genius managed impersonate Jake the Snake . If I had to guess, I'd say that person wasn't impersonating so much for identity reasons but rather to test the security of JavaRanch. I might also guess that it was based on a name with apparently normal characters, but not quite, which would mean you could only impersonate a greenhorn. It was originally on this thread, but the impersonator was careful to delete all of his posts. Not that I would know....

OOPS . David. You have registered with this site from July 2001 & you don't know me. Really surprising. at some point of time , I was having bartender designation instead of ranchhand.
I have taken the responsibilites of moderating Process , J2ME , XML( for very small time ), Performance & Lately SCJP forum in a year a so. I am not recollecting other one or two forum I moderated. It was preeety hectic. thus , no. of posts are high. Now , I am not the bartender for many reasons. Only thing is that , You won't find any of my posts in Meanigless Drivel. So , I am unkonwn.
One more thing. I am He , not she.

The new look up was already implemented in other UBB Forums who were using a later version. I m happy to c JavaRanch implement this now....

Exactly . It looks like the forums you moderated aren't ones I frequent much. I look in the SCJP forum once in a while, but it's too crowded in there to get to know anybody. I really ought to spend more time in the Process and OO forums (for that matter I'm not even a SCJP although I'm pretty sure I could pass the test without much preparation) but since I've never had the opportunity to participate in a project with as many as two people, I tend to be more interested in things like "Hey, you can enter unicode characters outside of strings. Awsome!".
Sorry about that little gender mix up. Actually, given the variety of names people have here maybe it would be useful to somehow include gender in profiles.
