Ugh.
Working through these free vouchers, mostly with an eye on my boss' new emphasis on certification of employees, I decided a few weeks ago that today (my regular day off) would be an ideal day to take my 483 exam, since it was supposed to be restful.
This morning just was a horror. (Let's not even mention that I'm about to go driving in the freezing cold to get a window in my car replaced.) I got to the test center (MD43 for anyone in the Baltimore area - never use this center) and they were still downloading my exam. The test didn't finish downloading until 10:45, when I'd been scheduled to start at 9:30. I don't know whose fault that is, but after a prior bad experience there, I'm swearing off that center.
I did manage to pass, though, with a 65. My breakdown:

My excuse for the EJB section is that I don't use EJB's at the office - we mostly use JSP's and servlets. The irony is that I've been doing really poorly on the mock exam in the architecture section, and it was my best section on here.
Next up for me: IBM 486, the dreaded OOAD with UML exam....

Well, if your office doesn't use EJB's (like mine), then I cannot stress enough that it's probably to your benefit to get a tutorial out and learn about EJBs. I had taken a brief introduction about two years ago into them as part of being trained to use WebLogic, but honestly I can't recall much of what I learned, and that was EJB 1.0.
I ended up using a lot of the online documentation from Sun as a basis for studying, as well as doing the few mock exams (IBM's ICE site, as well as WhizLab's demo). My reading was limited - unfortunately, I've been strapped for cash lately and the local libraries aren't wonderfully stocked - so I was stuck with my J2EE Tutorial (J2EE 1.3) and the Codenotes J2EE book.
Still, as they say, passing is passing..
