In money terms I think the IBM cert will do more for you when discussing your salary with HR.
If you want to know which one is tougher I have no idea.
just my 2c

Hi,
I just passed SCEA, I am thinking about taking
IBM Certified for e-business Solution Designer,IBM Certified for e-business Solution Advisor seems for sales guy, IBM Certified for e-business Solution Designer is for technical guy.
From red book, IBM Certified for e-business Solution Designer is more difficult than IBM Certified for e-business Solution Advisor. Comparing IBM Certified for e-business Solution Designer with SCEA, SCEA includs 3 parts, needs more effort, especially part 2. There are lots info on the net for SCEA, but few info for IBMs.
Thanks,
Adam

Welcome to JavaRanch Adam, a.k.a. adamj2ee.
One important rule about passing exams: read the instructions carefully. We provide a practive space for this type of exercise right here at JavaRanch. It's called the naming policy.
Your display name doesn't quite fit the famous JavaRanch naming policy. Could you please take a minute to change your display name to show 2 names, preferably your real name. (It's all about maintaining our professional image - don't let the one-eyed moose fool you!).
Thanks and hope you'll be visiting the ranch often,
Pauline

i've been sitting on part I for about a month of hard work - but i'm not architect - so i had it with 81%.
not i have another month or so, almost full-time for part II, and i'm about to get it done.
I don't intend to invest more that 1-2 days for review before Part III.
But remeber, I'm very unexperienced. I really learned a lot, a lot, and i don't regret the time invested.
Having experience with architecting sofware systems, will probably make you pass with some after-noon reviews for 2-3 weeks for I and same for II - as I heared.
Greetings,
Rudi

Hi,
I took around 2-3 monthes to prepare for part I, but I had a full time job, just prepared during nights and weekends. For part II, I finished my design (I mean diagrams) in a month, then took another month for the document, in the last spent one month more to verify the assignment diagram and html document. After submiting, go for part III directly, part III is just a piece of cake.
Thanks,
Adam
