BEA Certified Architect comments?

This cert from BEA is my choice but there is
no way I can afford to or even want to
take the 5 or so courses from BEA that are mandatory. It seems like it is just a money grab from BEA forcing people to actually take courses
to get the cert.
Comments anyone?

Overpriced. Unnecessary. Waste of Money.
I can't see how any certification that does not require some type of testing will ever be considered valuable by anyone. This certification can't even guarantee that the person was even awake during the classes, let alone that the person has some amount of knowledge/experience.
This certification is more of a marketing campaign for BEA Education than it is a technical certification.

I'm afraid I agree. It's like one of those Learning Tree certifications which basically say that you took the course.
The only BEA certification worth the paper it's printed on is the Weblogic Server certification, and then only if you pass the test rather than take the course.
