Has someone already started to prepare for this certification?
I wonder what is the best way to prepare.
Is this certification similar to the one of IBM ?
In the document explaining the coverage, OMG refers to UML 2.0. Specification.
But where is this document I only found version 1.5.

I read about the titles for this certification. Which say beginner, intermediate and advanced certifications in UML Specification. I think the candidates for this exam can only get knowledge about UML. The IBM exam for OOAD enables us to learn the process of building software in the UML context. I think that is more important than just learning UML notation.
So my point is full marks for the IBM OOAD using UML.
post your opinions.
Thx,
Ramdas

Sure Ramdas, I agree with you, Full marks to IBM OOAD exam. But there are ppl out there who only want UML certification. If Its from the OMG group then you can expect a lot of ppl who even helped created the UML would set the questions
I have no plans to go there anyway...

Watch out....
Examination Fee
The examination fee for each test is US$200. The beta exam fee is $80.

Seems like all the companies are trying to make money on developers! One certificate is not enough so OMG has put three and with $200 price tag for each!! jCert has solution developer cert. where one need to take exam not on technology but on IDE (by IBM)?! IBM has so many cert. on same thing that it's difficult to differentiate between some, even by developers, let alone recruiters/HR people.

WRT having to certify on IBM's IDE to get the Solution Developer certificate... it's more a shame towards the other JCert members than towards IBM. They should be offering more of a variety.
On the other hand, the Enterprise Developer looks to me to be more useful anyway. And there, there's a variety of application servers you can get certified on. Since a company often uses only one brand of servers (well, at least every firm I've worked for has tried to use the same software on each job), that may have more value to companies encouraging their employees to get tested.

got an email from omg saying i was selected for the beta exam, but i think i may not show up for it. after al, it's $80 even for the beta ones, and you have to take the steps from fundamental to advanced, which is $240 at least(could be $600). this set of certs just look too expensive for me (although i can get reimbursed from company, still, it's a lot). the only thing i like it is that it's not from vendors and may have a longer time to expire (until uml 3.0?)

I also got the email, but might not be showing up, as the beta is running for 2 weeks only, starting from 11 Aug. Not much time to prepare if you are also working at same time.
