Hi, I'm wondering if anybody has written this test, and if so, would you be willing to share some feedback?
Specifically, I'm wondering which of the Websphere MQ manuals are really needed to prepare for this test. So far I'm thinking the "Quick Beginnings" book, the "System Administration" and maybe the "Clients" and "Intercommunication" would be a good starting point. Does this sound reasonable?
I have Websphere MQ (for Windows) on my laptop and have a small test network where I can install clients and do hands on labs also... if anybody has an specific recommendations for scenarios to work though, those would be appreciated as well.
Finally, one last question... regarding platform specific features... Websphere MQ is available on a wide number of platforms, but there is only one test... does that mean there will be test questions related to any of the possible platforms (ex, Websphere MQ on zOS, on iSeries, on Linux, etc.) or do they stay away from platform-specific knowledge on the exam?
Thanks in advance...

For really learning and using MQ ( for admin and development ) you should study Introduction, System Administration, Programming Guide and InterCommunication. For the test specifcally, following would be useful ( listed in order of importance )
1. System Administration ( VVVVV IMP )
Chapter1-4,7,8,9-11,14,15,17 ( Should read and practice )
Remaining chapter other than Part7 ( Recommended to read once )
Part7 - Atleast skim through it..
2. InterCommunication
Chapter 1-6 ( 4 and 6 are most imp )
3. Security ( Part1 and Chapter6 are imp ) . Skim through other chapters
4. Z/OS Concept Guide ( Skim through ..)
5. Application Programming Guide ( chapter 2 and 4 ) - Not required, but recommended
I have very limited knowledge about OS390. If you are confident about Windows and Unix, you can easily pass the test.
90% of the questions would be platform neural but there would be some platform specific question, particularly about Z/OS.

Regarding hands on practice, you can do all the practice by creating two Queue Managers on one machine .
I hope this helps

Ahmed, thank you VERY much for that information. That's exactly what I needed to know!
IBM, (insert favorite deity here) bless them, puts a LOT of great information oline in the form of their product manuals, and Redbooks... but for Websphere MQ there is so **much** information, I had no idea how much of it I needed to read / process to prepare for the exam...
You're a life-saver! Thanks again...

For the specific question type u have asked about final destination of message, check Websphere MQ InterCommunication manual Chapter 4. However based on my 2 exams for Administrator, I think System Administraion and Security manual and having an overall understanding of all features are more important. The type of question you are saying is more relevent to Solution Developer and Solution Designer exam
