Interested in Certification

My company is migrating to the Websphere platform from being a Microsoft shop. Don't be angry with me, the MS decision was made long before I joined the company (it was the decision to migrate that prompted the company to look for a "Java Guru" as the CEO calls me).
Although I have used WSAD and Eclipse in the past, I doubt I've even begun to utilize their strengths fully. My question regarding "Developing J2EE Applications with WebSphere Studio" (quite a mouthful so I'll call it DJAWS in the future) is would this book be considered a good starting point for learning the ins and outs of WSAD or is it tailored for someone who is experienced with the tool and who is just ramping up to take the test?
Also, do the IBM certifications lead to a title or are they just individual certifications (I.E., I can take the MS certs individually and be certified in that particular topic but if I take a certain combination of certs I can be an MCSE or MCSD).
On another note congratulations on your new book, I know how difficult it can be and how much follow through it takes to take on a task of this size! Maybe one day, I'll have the willpower to get published

Hi Michael,
There are many certificates offered by IBM.
You can see the details below:
http://www-1.ibm.com/certify/tests/index.shtml
For some of the tests, like 285, 286, when you pass it, you will get a title, IBM Certified Associate Developer - WebSphere Studio, V5.0 and IBM Certified Solution Developer - WebSphere Studio, V5.0 respectively.
But for some other tests, like 287, 484, 486, you need to complete all specific tests (like MCSE) to get the title IBM Certified Enterprise Developer - WebSphere Studio, V5.0.
Hope this help.
Nick.

Hi Michael,
Yes, it does lead you to a title -> "IBM Certified Enterprise Developer - WebSphere Studio, V5.0" (IBM CEDWS)
Exam 287 is one of the requirements you to become one and you must pass four exams.
Please check out
this page if you want the details. Hope this clarifies.
Although, I haven't attempted any of it, by the looks of it, it's quite a long journey. Btw, I'll start with SCJP as it can be counted towards IBM CEDWS.
