Hi,
IBM 486 (UML) is part of IBM Enterprise Developer - Websphere Studio v.5.0.
If I pass IBM 486, will I get a kind of certificate to indicate that I passed this exam, or do I have to wait until I have passed all the exams for IBM Enterprise Developer - Websphere Studio v.5.0?

IBM does not issue certificates for IBM 486 solely. IBM only releases certificate for the 4 exams: Certified IBM Enterprise Developer.

It's a pity IBM don't issue certificates for each exam. I think they should as you feel you want something for all the hard work. Plus, it takes a long time to pass all 4 of the exams before you get the single certificate.
Just my thoughts.

Yes, I also feel that they should offer certificate. I don't know "why" don't they offer.
At the same time, I don't think that "I am ever going to require certificate" as a proof. Marksheet (when there is no certificate) will serve the purpose.
On different note, how will u compare OMG's UML certification with IBM's.
Thanx
Neil

Hello Folks,
IBM certifications generally relate to job roles. The 486 exam is just one part of the job role of Certified Enterprise Developer. For this particular role, IBM identifies four tests as the core requirements: Test 310, Test 486, Test 484 and Test 287. Although I consider myself capable of doing OOAD with UML, I do not stress that as a qualification. Rather, I state my abilities as an IBM CED, among other credentials. Anyways, that's my two cents worth.
