Hi all,
Finally, I passed IBM 287 today with 77%.
The score distribution is as follows:
1. Design, build and test reusable enterprise components: 62%
2. Design, build and test web components: 90%
3. Develop clients that access the enterprise components: 75%
4. Demonstrate understanding of database connectivity
and messaging within IBM WebSphere Application Server: 75%
5. EJB Transactions: 100%
6. Assemble enterprise applications and deploy them in IBM
WebSphere Application Server: 75%
7. Validate, tune and troubleshoot an application within
a WebSphere Application Server environment: 75%
Below lists the books I used:
1. HF EJB for basic EJB concepts and EJB transactions
2. SCWCD Exam Study Kit for basic Web Components concepts
3. Developing J2EE Applications with IBM WebSphere Studio for WSAD related concepts
Best wishes to those who are in the same track.
Nick

Hi Serge,
I wanna ask, do I need to do anything for receiving ICED cert?
Thanks.

Hello Nick,
Congrats! on clearing Test 287.
I am taking the exam on 30-March. Other than the Practice Test Questions, are there any links where I can get more Questions for 287.
Thanks
Sathya

Since IBM exams for WebSphere is not as popular as SUN's, there are limited resources on it.
Anyway, I used Howard's book together with ICE test. I think they are enough for you to pass the exam.
Best luck for your exam.

Hello Nick,
Yeah I understand that. Unfortunately I do not have access to Howard's Book (Even in a local Book Shop ) . So I'll have to rely on RedBooks, WSAD Documentation etc. I had found quite a lot of useful stuff for 486(OOAD with UML) in the Net, but not for others.
Try www.ejbcertificate.com (if u haven't already) for your SCBCD preparation. It's a great site. So is www.j2eecertificate.com for SCWCD.
Thanks
Sathya

Hi Sathyadas,
I got a free copy of Howard's book from Javaranch. Many thanks to Javaranch to have such promotion, and Howard has created such an excellent book and joined the promotion, and he regularly appears here to answer our questions.
I would like to thank Thomas as well, he helped me a lot in figuring out the delivery status of the book from the publisher to my friend's home. Ko Ko has also helped me a lot so that I can receive the book smoothly.
I also wanna thank Nikhil for posting the ICE questions for 287 (as I dont make a copy myself when I took the ICE test). Serge and Ramon have killed lots of my doubts.
Without them, I cannot finish this certification with only 1 month time. Many thanks to them.
For SCBCD, I got a free copy of EJBPlus from JDiscuss.
I will also take your recommendation.
In the same time, I am also in the progress of IBM 288 and SCJWSD, so, maybe I will take SCBCD on June, after finishing 288 and SCJWSD.
Best luck for your exam! I wish you can get ICED soon.
Nick

Hi Ko Ko,
How's your SCBCD preparation?
BTW, if you planned it on 17 May, how about SCJWSD? you planned it on 23 May? The time seems too tight I feel.
I feel super rush that I finished ICED within 1 month, many *thanks* to SCMAD and SCJWSD, otherwise, I can have more time to get a better result. Thus, I guess you may re-plan it?
I have been noticed suddenly that I need to have a business trip to Tokyo next week. At first, I wanna finish SCBCD before I goto the trip, but it seems (super)^2 rush for me this time.

Hi, Nick,
did you send your SCJP score report to IBM? If not, then fax it to them.
If yes, wait 3-4 days for them to process your latest exam results, and you'll receive an e-mail of how to get your certficate.
Here are the details: http://www-1.ibm.com/certify/certs/ad_registration.shtml#processing

Nick,
great result. You work very hard and deserve your rewards.
I'm having a 2 week break from studying at the moment. I've just bought "Head First Java" for a bit of light relief, and to see what all the fuss is about. It's definitely a lot different to any java book I've ever read.

Hi Ramon,
I love Kathy and Bert's book much. Last year, when I first come across EJB 2.0, I read Enterprise JavaBean 3rd edition. It makes me very painful as the content is very difficult to understand.
However, when I came across HF EJB, I am happy in my learning process. And I used it as my main reference for IBM 287 and 484.
I think you will find it cool for preparing any EJB related exams.

yeah, Nick, I'm going for both of them parallelly... Not sure I can make it or not...

That's really a great rush again... Just go ahead, Nick... I should be jealous of your speed...

Hi Ko Ko,
You can make it! I am also in such situation. In fact, I just wanna study SCJWSD, however, since it is about Web Services, I think I can also study IBM 288. Just like the case for IBM 287/484 with SCWCD and SCBCD.
In addition, my speed is very slow in fact. I started my first read of HF EJB in last Oct. The 2nd read before I took IBM 484, and the 3rd read before I took IBM 287. But still, I did not clear SCBCD.
Wanna have a good study during Easter holiday, however, need to have a business trip in that period.
Nick
