Which certification

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi,
I have done SCJP 1.4 and IBM exam 486(OOAD with UML).
Is that advisable to go with Weblogic certification or to try with Sun certified Business component developer?
Where to find the details of this certification?
We are currently using weblogic 8.1 application server.
I am having 3+ years of experience in J2EE dev.
Thanks & Regards,
Purvesh

It really depends. If I were you, I will first go for SCBCD and then WL 8.1. It is becos you can have more background knowledge on EJB, before taking part into the vendor-specific EJB.

Where to find the details of this certification?

For SCBCD, you can visit the SCBCD link
For WL, you may visit Whizlabs's site, as well as its article.
Since I used IBM WAS only, I cannot give much comments on WL.
Hope this help.

I think Sun certs are better, the BEA/IBM certs are product specific. Think of a hypothetical EJB engineer who got qualified on WL6.0, now he/she has to go get qualified on 8.1, because their cert is no longer viable. You will end up getting requalified every 18 moinths, and BEA wil milk you of thounsands of dollars.
Sun's certs never expire, read Sun's website on this.
There are plenty of resources on the SCBCD exam, if that's what your asking for.
Reading a lot of these posts will give you an idea what to expect:

Sun's own website:
http://training.sun.com/US/certification/java/java_busj23e.html
Also, there's one famous book to teach you how to pass the exam:

It depends on the point of view.
Although SUN's certs never expiry, the technologies always being replaced within 1-2 years. Thus, the expiration of certification is somehow meaningless, and we will always need to *upgrade* ourselves.

Sun certification does expire. At least SCJP certification is valid only for 2 years. Sun's exams are also upgraded as the new versions are released. For example, SCJP, SCJP 1.4, etc.
So I do not see any advantage of Sun's cert here.

Doesnt matter for those who have time and money

Thanks all of you for the response.
I also think that SCBCD would be a better choice for me as I don't have working experience of EJB. Because money investment is also equally important as that of time.
Sun has changed its policy and the sun certifications are for lifetime. It doesn't expire.

SUN has changed the certification policy on 1 Aug 2003. Details can be found here
and
Re-certification issues
Here is part of the quote:

If a Sun certified professional has already received a certificate and ID card with the printed expiration date, can that professional request another certificate and ID card without an expiration date?

Yes. The certified professional will need to send an email to the who2contact@sun.com alias to request a new certificate and ID card. Include your name and Prometric Candidate ID number.

Thus, you can make a request of re-issue the certificate to you that without the expiry date.
