Hi!

I'm planning to get certified for OCA.
I just checked out the exam outline from Oracle's site and I think 1Z0-001 has more contents than 1Z0-007.

One of my objective for taking this certification is learn more about Oracle.

So which exam do you think I should take?

I also read that Oracle will be retiring Oracle 8i certification by the end of the year but Im planning to get it by Jan 05. Will this affect the validity of 1Z0-001? Will 1Z0-001 still be a substitue for 1Z0-007 come 8i's retirement.

Thanks a lot guys!

1z0-001 focus on PL/SQL while 1z0-007 focus on general SQL. Thus, it really depends on whether you wanna learn PL/SQL. In addition, why dont you consider 1z0-042? It is now in production already.

Basically, 1z0-001 is for 8i PL/SQL. I guess it has a high chance to be retired on 15 Dec 2004. But you might check with your local Oracle University.

Hi Nick! Thanks for the quick response.

Well, I'm thinking to get 1Z0-007 and not 1Z0-042 because we are using Oracle 9i in our office and I'm planning to review during break and idle times, and maybe 1-2 hours after work in the office.

Thanks.

John,

Im planning to take the 1Z0-007 exam too - if you do have the ILT Books from the Oracle Course Ware - was wondering if you would like to sell it to me
after you are done.
