I'm new here, and I'd love to share the experiences with all of you guys
I'm a graduate student and I come from China, so forgive me for my poor English...
I feel that the security section of Test 340 is a bit difficult compared to other sections such as architecture, application assenbly and deployment....So pay more attention to the WAS security section.
I've only read through two redbooks to pass the exam:

sg246195--IBM WebSphere Application Server V5.0 System Management and Configuration
SG246573--for more details on WAS5 security.

The two red books are enough to pass the exam.

I'm now preparing for test 700 and 701, it seems that 700 is much easier, however, 701 is difficult...

Hi Lu

Congratulations!!! Well done!!!

I am also preparing for this test and I have some questions regarding it.

I dont have any kind of practical experience with WebSphere. Also I am studying the same books, which you mentioned. When I took the pre-assesment test, my impression was that the questions were more related to WebSphere concepts. They did not ask about scenarios like for example what happens on IBMs 287 and 484. What is your opinion about the real exam?

Thanks in advance

Hi Americo:
Well, I haven't taken test 287 yet while I'm planning to take it maybe in 2 months to get the ICED. For test 340, I think that there're many questions concentrating on the details about the Administrative console, Application Assembly Tool, Tivoli Performance Viewer and Log Analyzer. You'll find the test much easier if you're familiar with these tools. Some other aspects such as applying fixpacks and e-packs, hot deploy (deploying a new module or modifying the existing ones) and migration of WAS, though they're not introduced in the two redbooks I've mentioned, you could find some articles in the WAS infocenter.
Others, I think, the Collector tool, backup tool, are also important because there'll be always 2 or more questions about them
Good luck

Can we expect any questions on JVM stack trace and related thread monitoring concepts for this exam? I'm going thru troubleshooting topic in the redbook and came across it.

Thanks.
