I still haven't quite figured out what possessed me to take this test, mind you.
I guess it started a few weeks ago when I was working on a few PHP pages for my employer and it occurred to me that there was a certification for PHP from the company. That got a boost when they offered a "try again if you fail" policy for January... so I decided to burn a day of leave and take the test this morning.
My preparation materials: Zend's own Zend PHP Certification Study Guide and php|architect's The Zend PHP Certification Practice Test Book (in addition to prior experience with PHP 4).
The test was fairly difficult and encompassed a wide variety of questions, in formats from multiple-choice/single-option, multiple-choice/multiple-option and fill-in, and is 70 questions in 85 minutes. The complicating factor: They don't tell you what the pass/fail mark is. (I'm one of those that figures out in advance how much you need to pass and relax when I get past that level.) Likewise, the score report afterwards doesn't tel you anything more than 'Passed' or 'Failed'.
I'm glad I took it.. just wish I knew how well I'd done...
