Passed Exam 348

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi all,

Passed 348 with 70%. I've used the websphere portal off/on for 2 years now - but nothing in depth. presume I know at least the basics of the Java language and how to read a portlet.

I've studied for 1 week - about 25 hours total using redbook "portal version 5 - guide to portlet development"

good luck ranchers!

Hi there.

I can't give out the questions I remember from the exam but I can suggest to go through that redbook - "WebSphere Portal v5 - A Guide to Portlet Development"...yes it's dry but it helped get the certification. In fact, here are the scores I got by studying this manual...

Install, Setup and configure (100%) 3 out of 3
Architect, implement and design (83%) 5 out of 6
Write a portlet (66%) 14 out of 21
Testing and debugging (100%) 6 out of 6
Backend portlet services (40%) 2 out of 5
Additional Portlet concepts (62%) 5 out of 8

As you can see, the book didnt help too much in terms of backend portlet services but it did help in most all other areas...and helped get the passing score. I do have a list of topics I recall from the test but I think javaranch will ban me if i post.

Focus on the portlet API chapter and make sure you work through other areas of the book (at least skim through other areas of the book) just know the API chapter really well as it's at least 40% of the exam.

The section "Write a portlet" is basically very difficult, and it requires you to know lots of basic concepts. All points I lost are due to this section.
