Hi,

I passed 486 recently. The books you have are all you need
with respect to literature. Depending on your studying
strategy you might need some exam simulator. I used Whizlabs,
which is probably the only one on the market, but I'm not
100% sure. I've seen that a fellow rancher M.Zaikin has
posted a free downloadable exam simulator with a 486 test
going with it, look in this forum for it.

As you said it's a tough read, especially Larman, I liked
Fowler's book which I read a couple of times. HFDP is super
and I used it to cement the concepts. If you are in
desperate need of time the exam objectives allow you to
drop HFDP without too much damage I'd say, but Larman and
Fowler must be read.

Depending on how much time you can spend each day, with at least
3-4 hours a day I think it should be possible to make it on the
30th of April. Bare in mind that some prior affinity with all
the concepts and experience is of great influence on the time
you'd have to spend.

HTH,

Gian

Is it enough to read Applying UML and Patterns by Craig Larman? What topics are covered in UML Distilled by Martin Fowler but not in Larman's book?

Nope. Larman's book only covers OOAD part.

What topics are covered in UML Distilled by Martin Fowler but not in Larman's book?

Basis of various UML diagrams.

Thanks Nick.

Do you think I have to read UML Distilled if I am familiar with the basics of UML?

If you are familiar with UML, you might skip reading it, however, for revision purposes, it is better to scan through it once.
