This week's book giveaway is in the Agile and Other Processes forum. We're giving away four copies of Real-World Software Development: A Project-Driven Guide to Fundamentals in Java and have Dr. Raoul-Gabriel Urma & Richard Warburton on-line! See this thread for details.
Today i passed the 486 exam.I studied for around 2 weeks (3 hrs each ).(That is why i got 69%).( I beleive I used all the 3 vouchers effectively). As described in this site as well as in others 2 books 1) UML distilled - Martin Fowler 2) Applying UML patterns - larman. 3) whizlabs. Actually i should have whizlabs is good but i did not get 30% of the q's which were asked in whizlabs. (I mean simialr questions.) In my opinion for this exam those 2 books which i mentioned above and the ICE exam should be sufficient.also if you have time there is a yahoo groups(OOAD_meda - if i am not wrong) which has lots of articles and helpful notes. For what type of questions you get just see the ICE question pattern. I did not get any questions like -- given a problem identify which design patterns you would like to follow. More questions were oriented to domain modelling , class diagrams.
Hope this will help for future 486 test takers. Thanks to this forum and this site for their wonderful support. at last but not the least IBM who gave free vouchers to promote OO principles .
