Test 257 Enterprise Application Development with IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere Software V6.0

in the category ? ..I am confused in here (literally feel this)

I think it depends on what you see your career path being, before you start deciding on any specific certification.

I'd certainly look at the WebSphere path if you're thinking of staying in Java EE - at least when I was working for firms that used it, it seemed fairly useful - and it certainly can't hurt with looking for a job down the road or bettering yourself at your current job. Their XML cert (141) also is fairly good and universally recognized.

I think the 486 is IBM's best test. I recommend it.

My only caveat, personally, when it comes to the 486 is that it's not a certification per se but a part of IBM's program. It's certainly worthwhile, but it doesn't by itself certify you as anything...

Hehe... yes it would certainly be nice to say I'm OOAD/UML certified rather than "I've passed IBM's OOAD/UML 486 exam."

They're different, by and large, so it's really comparing vaguely different ideas. Sun's are product-agnostic by design - you're learning the ideas behind the basic structure and APIs for the version that you're studying up on, while IBM's are concentrating on the idiosyncracies of their technologies.

That said, my personal opinion is that I've found IBM's easier if only because there seems to be less to study, less to know to do well on them. But then again, I've also stressed myself out, by and large, less on the IBM exams so there may be a mental angle too.
