Well, now I'm considering yet another certification to spark interest in my resume... already have SCJP & SCWCD, should I persue this now? Or perhaps do more J2EE learning? This is getting depressing and I don't even know if another cert is wise. But full time job searching makes for a lot of down time and I might as well be doing something!
Whether another certification helps you get a job is anybody's guess since an employer may or maynot recognize your certification as a hiring criteria. For all you know, a truck driver with three years of J2EE experience may snatch the gig from a Comp Science graduate with two years of C++ experience and a dozen Java certifications. You know what I'm talking about right? It's just another thing to add to your resume and I don't think it does any harm though. At tough times like this when the labor market is tight and employers cherry-pick potential hires, a few certifications on your resume might( again, might) scream for attention. It can only do harm if you get certified in disparate areas like OCP from Oracle, CNA from Cisco, SCJP from SUN and MCSD from Microsoft. Avoid doing such a thing! By the way, I am transferring this topic to Jobs Discussion forum. Cheers! ------------------ Ajith Kallambella M. Sun Certified Programmer for the Java2 Platform.
