Hi everybody,
I passed the test 141 today. Thanks to all the javaranchers for providing useful info. Once again, Thanks to Hema for letting us know about the pre-assessment test for the free voucher.
As Mamta and Frank have already informed, we have to know XML schema, XSLT, Xpath very well.
In addition to that, we should know DOM well, various interfaces, methods.
We should know basics of CSS, FO: when to use what.I found few ques. on these.
and few questions on the basics of XLINK, soap, uddi.
All the best!

Congratulations Niharika !!!
Could you please enlighten us to the following ?
1> How close does the sample test come to the real thing ? I read on yahoo groups that it is not too close to the real test.
2> Do we need to know the interfaces etc of DOM and SAX completely ?
3> What references did you use for XML signature, security etc ?
4> How long did it take for you to prepare for the exam ?
Congratulations once again.

Thanks Mamta and Shashank!
Shashank,
I'll try to answer your questions:
1> How close does the sample test come to the real thing ? I read on yahoo groups that it is not too close to the real test.
Yes, it is not too close to the real test but few questions have some similarity. It's better to take both the sample tests for 140 and 141( at IBM's site)before taking the real test.
2> Do we need to know the interfaces etc of DOM and SAX completely ?
The best way to learn is to download the parser
and try the examples at java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/dist/1.1/docs/tutorial/TOC.html#intro
Finally, before the test, I went through DOM and SAX given in Professional XML 2nd edition.
3> What references did you use for XML signature, security etc ?
www.w3.org/TR/xmldsig-core
4> How long did it take for you to prepare for the exam ?
It took one month.
I referred Professional XML 2nd edition,
XML Schema, wrox press, xml.com
for XSLT, www.zvon.org
Good Luck!
Niharika

Congrats Niharika !
I too agree with you that the actual test is complex than the sample ones.
Also, does anybody know if IBM gives certificates for this exam., like SUN? Also where to register for that?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks Nitin, Congratulations to you too!!
Yeah, the test is really tough. For your queries, you can send a mail to [email protected].
I have contacted them once and I was really surprised to see a prompt reply from them.
Please let me also know their reply to your query.
Regards,
Niharika

Thanks Adrian, Badal, Doug, Mapraputa, Hema, Vani. Thanks to all the javaranchers for their suggestions and comments.
Badal, Sorry for the delay in the reply. Here are the answers to the questions you asked :
1. I found this test 141 tough and could score just little more than the passing score( 66%).
2. My score in SCJP was 78%.
3. Before preparation, I would rate myself 3 out of 10 and now I believe, I am somewhere near 8 out of 10.
4. Yes, I did go through articles from "Roger L. Costello" on XML Schema but not XSLT. For XSLT, I referred XSLT/XPATH Tutorial at www.zvon.org
Thanks and Good Luck!
