What is the difference?
What version should I study?
What are the downloads I have to make to work out examples on them.
Is w3 specs the best place to start?

XSL is XML based language uses stylesheet to preserve and format out put while for preserving data from XML file inorder to transform it in to other formats we use XSLT uses templates to transform data and in order to format data we use another language derived from XSL called XSL-Formatting object said shortly as XSL-FO so XSL is bunch of technologies and XSLT is one of those technology to transform XML to XML or HTML or Text or any other format.
U asked about starting so get ready start better from
W3Schools
Going to IBM's Tutorial and then go to XFRont Tutorial that is very good and thenI suggest to go for Specifications.
Well for Publications Start with Beginning XML by David Hunter Going on to Second Edition of Professional XML and Also Orielly's Schema Book.
I think its enough to pass IBM Exam.U can get Mocks from XML@Whiz , Skilldrill.com , LiveTesting.com(hard one but there is repeatetion)
U2Test.com,W3SchoolsQuiz,JavaRanch Mocks and IBM Sampale test 141 and 140.
Thats All
Wish u best of Luck
