Need for XPATH/XSLT

Hi,
We can parse the DOM tree and get whatever information we want and build the html with the data obtained from the DOM tree. Why do we need XSLT/XPATH to convert the xml to html.

You are right. You can do your way. But that approach is overkill. You will need a C++ or java program for each XML structure while you can just write an XSL for the same XML.
XSLT and XPATH has advantages of flexibility, readability, maintainability and portability over the approach you mentioned.

Also I think that with the DOM approach it is difficult to convert the XML document to another XML document. Thanks for your answer.
