XML Rendering: Is it about interchange of information?

I am nay clear as to why XML rendering is being considered an appropriate technology for interchange of information.

XML Rendering is used for information exchange too.

XML rendering provides a standard way to exchange information between Oracle 9iFS and other information systems.
