Hi all,
one of the books say
:name as a valid element name. But when i tried it in IE, it throws me an error saying invalid character ( . I remeber even Vibha's notes in one of the post on this message board saying colon ( can be used as intial charcater in element name.
Please help

Hari babu,
: should not be a starting character. Element names can start only with letters, ideograms and underscore chars. colon can be used anywhere except the first location but it's usage is discouraged. It's used to prefix namespaces.
For example first:name is a valid element name but it is preferred to use with namespaces like xmlns o1 etc.
hope i've clarified ur doubt.
reg,
rakesh.
