The following question is from the DOM/SAX sample exam on this site. The answer given is (a), but I don't think it is correct. The SAX ContentHandler interface has a processingInstruction() method. Am I missing something, or is this sample exam just really lame?
6. When Processing Instructions are a part of your parsing process, DOM should be used, since SAX cannot be used to detect a Processing Instruction in a document.

I think you are right, even the SAX 1.0 DocumentHandler interface (now deprecated, This interface has been replaced by the SAX2 ContentHandler interface, which includes Namespace support) had the method 'processingInstruction'.
