Hi,
Does anyone know of any site where one can download "Essential XML Quick Reference - Aaron Skonnard et al.". Tried developmentor.com without success. It throws error messages while registering and then says that the e-mail id is already registered!

Hi,
I still cannot find another site (other than http://develop.com/devresources/dmseries.aspx) to download Essential XML - quick reference by Aaron Skonnard. And that site doesn't allow me to register and throws errors.
After reading recommendations about the book on javaranch, I would really like to use it to prepare for the XML exam.
If it is legal share the pdf file with others, it will be of great help if someone who already has the pdf version of the book e-mails it to me.
My e-mail id is rajaram20022001@yahoo.com.
Thanks in advance.

Hai Raj,
Even I face the same problem. If you could get it, please send me the URL, or send the pdf to my mail box poorna@ssl.co.in

Thanks

Please be aware of ")" in here -
http://develop.com/devresources/dmseries.aspx) <--
I guess that is causing the url not found kind of thing. I could successfully download it today. I think there can a problem depending on the speed of the internet connection. I'm doing this at work which is some hi-fi sort of connection. I faced similar problems with other stuff in the past while trying to download things from home which is dial-up modem connection.
I cannot send it in email as it is pretty big ~8MB.

Hi Jayadev,
I don't use the end ")" as part of the URL amd I am able to reach the site OK.
Since I am a new user of develop mentor, I am forced to register before downloading the book and this is where the problem occurs. It doesn't allow me to register. Every time I fill the registration form and hit submit, it displays a error page. When I do it again, I get the error message that the e-mail id (which I entered just earlier) is already registered. I have tried this with different e-mail ids a number of times without success. Did you manage to register today or did u use your earlier registered id to download the book? I think that the problem is with registering new users before downloading the book!
Thanks and regards,
Raj

Raj,
I think you are right. Do we have some common location in this forum wherein we can upload some files and everyone call pull it from there?

Hi Jayadev,
I agree with you. It would be very nice if JR guys can provide space for XML reference book.
Thanks,
Arun

Hi All,
I am not sure whether javaranch provides a way to upload files. By the looks of it, it doesn't.
If someone figures a way out for this, please let us know.
I will try developer mentor site again in the coming weeks.
Thanks guys.
warm regards,
Raj

Thanks guys

Developermentor, like many other sites requires you to register, which is free, before downloading the book. Don't think it would be legal for anyone to allow downloading the book without registration, prior to getting permission from Developmentor.

I downloaded a PDF version of the book. But I still decided to buy a hardcopy from buy.com. It's very cheap, only $15.74USD with free shipping.

I also faced some difficulty and then I got it printed in hard copy by cracking RC4 Encryption Now I have given it to some guy and will be soon available in market I mean in Pakistan Karachi I felt that XML Quick Refrence starts XML very abruptly which is quite odd for beginner so I added a comprehensive Introductory tutorial which was written by me some time back.

You also print the file using ghostview, which I think is a little bit easier and also more 'legal'.

Hi guys,
can u tell me how to print the quick ref.
It is displayed as "Not allowed for printing"(security).
Is Ghostview a free software?
Already Iam suffering from back pain If I get this hard copy that will help me to some extent.

Thanks in advance.
Shakthy.

Syed,
We would be very grateful if it would be ok to you not to talk in this forum about those illegal things your are doing at home. Javaranch doesn't want Adobe to think that we are tolerating such behavior.
Thank you for your comprehension.

Well Mr.Valentin I think I am not telling about hacking here I am just informing about built in option provided for this purpouse by Adobe themselves and I am very sorry that you have taken it negative well depends on person to person and Adobe won't mind it because they have provided this themselves.Encryption and Decryption has been used since long but I don't knew that you don't know about it.
Sorry for the post if u mind it.

Syed,
my mistake, you are right Adobe won't mind, but the authors of the book MIGHT. Usually, when the printing feature is not available, that means
"Sorry pal, if you want a hardcopy , YOU BUY IT". With guys like you, authors and publishers will soon stop publishing free "unprintable" PDFs on the web.
I won't bother you again on this subject, I just wanted to make things clear.
Thanks for your contribution
