Hi Everybody,
I have passed IBM's XML and Related Technologies exam, on July 12,2003. My percantage is 81%. Section wise percentage is given below.
Section% of Test My score
-------------------- --------- --------
1. Architecture 18%100%
2. Information Modeling 27%73%
3. XML Processing 33%72%
4. XML Rendering 11%100%
5. Testing and Tuning11%83%
I have used the following resources.
1. Essential XML Quick Reference by Aaron Skonnarad and Martin Gudgin
[Excellent resource. Contains 10 chapters. All essential for the exam. Its focus is on the core concepts, so the examples are short. .But once you have done some practical work, its an excellent reference for the exam .To get practical experience of SAX, DOM and XSLT, one needs to work with Apache's xerces and xalan parsers]
2. Professional XML Quick Reference 2nd Edition
[Recommended by IBM. I had its 1st edition , 2nd one not available in my home country. Its also a very good book and contains not only concepts but detailed examples of all technologies]
3. http://zvon.org
[contains a very good tutorial on XSLT]
4. http://www.xfront.com
[Excellent tutorials/labs/examples on XML Schema and XSLT]
5. http://www.javaranch.com
[Discussions/FAQs/Remarks/Suggestions of successful candidates]
6. http://www.w3schools.com
[Excellent short tutorials on almost all technologies]
7. IBM's Sample Test
8. Various other sites related with XML/Webservices
Personal Opinion
----------------
Overall the exam is tough and gives one a hard time. One should not only have a thorough understanding of all XML related technologies but also know their usage with each other in a given scenario. I had 3 questions, related with SOAP/WSDL/UDDI. Test contains single choice(Radio Buttons) and Multiple Choice{Check Boxes} type questions. There are some questions related with a scenario.
There seems to be a time pressure during the exam, probably due to the lengthy/scenario based questions. Answers look confusing/similar if one has week concepts.
Good Luck for all those aspiring to take this exam .
Regards
