Are there questions on advantages of schemas over dtds? I am a novice and just started learning XML. I know the following diff between the 2 . If there are more additions to it let me know
1) DTD cannot be used for complex data types but schemas can be.
2) Schemas are extensible when data model changes.
3) DTD cannot really constrait values of attributes. They can be used if there are few values to attr like YES or NO.

"M NNNN",
Welcome to JavaRanch. We don't have many rules here at the Ranch, but one that we do have is a JavaRanch Naming Policy. Please change your display name to comply with this policy. Thanks in advance, and we look forward to seeing you around the Ranch.
