Did you have knowledge on all XML related topics when you wrote the sample exam? Can one pass the sample exam just by guessing the answers?

In case you have the voucher you need to take the exam by 3/31. That is a lot of time for preparing for XML exam.
Start off with www.w3schools.com for basics. Learn XML schema using tutorials from www.xfront.com. Learn some basics of soap and web services. Download Essential XML by Skonnard from www.develop.com. The book is small and covers almost all objectives for exam.
Naina - just to answer your question - IBM practice exam questions with answers are often available in Internet including javaranch. Hence the agony begins when you get the voucher - running against time to pass and make best use of voucher.
Best wishes

Thanks for responding to Leo theGreat. Others were more concerned with how to get a free voucher; the didn't even care to respond to his request.

Giri,
I did not know that qsns and answers for the sample exam would be available over the net. If you don't mind, can you provide me the link? I am not sure if i am too late to take the sample exam, but its worth trying if i can get that link. Waiting for your response.

I wish I could help. I cleared XML exam early this year and have been less interested in Qs and As for XML certification. If you are reasonably familiar with XML, sit down with a book and take the sample exam. Assuming you can at least 10-15 correct without help, you can always look up the reference for other questions. Like the actual exam you are limited only on total time - you can spend any long on individual questions.
Anyway you are not looking to score 100% which anyway is of little value. Just ensure that you have a few more correct than the minimum needed to pass. I am not sure if vouchers are still available. Usually IBM posts in News link in www.ibm.com/certify when vouchers get exhausted. But those days the vouchers were based on passing free exams. If they publish that vouchers are no longer available, $10 per exam may also dry up.
XML is not a very difficult exam. I still feel it is one of the easier IBM exams. Nevertheless you need to be prepared because the scope of the exam is very wide and exams do get revised without notice to candidates.
My best wishes to you.

You should get the voucher in "five business days". Typically people get it two days - that makes it latest by mid-next week.
If you don't get it by next week-end, you are out of luck.
Best wishes to you and Good Luck for both voucher and exam.

The test is certainly there still. The URL is http://ibmtesting.prime.prometric.com. If you have not registered, go through 1st time registration. In Take Test menu, click on Websphere Assessment / Sample Tests. Bingo. 141 is the first exam in the list.
Best wishes

Thanks Giri and Naina for ur quick response.
It has been a long time since I brushed my XML skills...shall have a quick look at w3schools before trying the exam tomorrow...
As for Leo, there is this book called
"Essential XML Quick Reference" - Aaron Skonnard, Martin Gudgin
This has gained positive reviews from members who have passed the certification. I think it is a good book. They have a free electronic version at this address...
http://www.developmentor.com/technology/developmentorseries.aspx
Check it out....
Best of luck with ur exam preparations....

Thanks for the replies. What about the other books like Professional XML, XSLT etc. IBM recommend those books..
Can I just go through the tutotials and that book "Essential XML" or also read Professional XML , XSLT etc...
Looking for your reply..

Hi Leo,
I don't know any webpage that has a electronic version of Professional XML...Shall update u if I find any...In the meantime ,have u checked out used books in Amazon. They do international shipping. I am assuming that u r not getting these books in ur country.THe link to the used books of Professional XML is
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/offering/list/-/1861005059/all/ref=dp_bb_a/102-8865031-8966515
These books can also be found in half.com for very reasonable prices in Half.com
http://half.ebay.com/cat/buy/prod.cgi?cpid=1055989435&domain_id=1856&meta_id=1
Hope this is helpful.Confirm with the seller that they allow International shipping...and read the ratings of the seller...Some people have bad experience from certain sellers...Do the research and buy at ur own risk :-)

I read some previous postings. Most of the people normally studying like:
Professional XML (Wrox) 2nd edition(chapters 2,3,5,6,10,11,16,20,27) as recommended b IBM.
Professional XML Schema (Wrox) by Jon Duckett.
Professional XSLT (Wrox) by Michael Kay.
Is it ok for the paper that I can read only those specific chapters...reply me in detail..
Thanks
Leo theGreat...

Hi,
This is with regard to IBM XML test. Usually the real test costs 150$. From what I understood, if I purchase an assesment test for 10$, I can get to write the 150$ exam for free. Have I understood it correctly?
Sounds too good to be true.
Thanks.
