does, in XML enviroment, a pair of single quotes is equivalent to a pair of double quotes??
for example:
<note type='text'/> is equivalent to <note type="text"/>

Yes !!! As far as I know You can use any one of them !!!
both apostrophe('), and quotation(") can be used as valid delimiter pairs.
so id="3" is equivalent to id = '3'
you cannot mix them like this though
"value' --> Invalid
If both delimiters are needed within teh literal then one used for the delimiters must be escaped using the appropriate entity reference
Ex: the ' used for the plurality in certification's
'certification's are "cool"'
hope this helps

'certification's are "cool"'
This doesn't work, it has to be 'certification@apos;s are "cool"' or "certification's are "cool""

That 'certifications are "cool"' WODUNT WORK ..teh example was for soemthing that wodunt work !!!
So in order to make that work " you would have to use entity references like tamer mentioned !!!

"certification's are "cool""
--> I don't think this will work. I think this should be,
"certification's are "cool""

oh sorry. guess the browser converts the entity reference for double quotes.
i believe Tamer Badr also encountered the same problem.
