We have Word documents, texteditors, zip softwares and so on. so, why do we need to have this XML. Can't we transfer information using this? It seems this is really a bad question posed by me to experts in this field. It is all due to my over curiousity in knowing XML. Give me fine examples where we use this language. Besides explaining how conventional methods fail to achieve the desired.

Sounds like you basically are asking us to type the whole book on XML here...anyways....
XML is a tech that enables representation of (any) data
is a self-describing editable text format. You define
a pattern (schema) you want to follow, make that schema
available and start writing files that contain data in
a way that they follow the pattern that you published.
Its like having an 'open schema' unlike the other
conventional tools you mentioned.
The adv, is that you can exchange data more freely,
others receiving this data can 'transform' into whatever
form they want and use it.
Hopefully, that should get the discussion started....
