congratulations Lasse .
I am planning on starting the exam preparation.
Can you give me some pointers .
I have done XML related java programming for almost 4 years .
Mainly SAX parsers not much on DOM.
Some XSL and XSLTC .Though XSL is not my very strong point.
Which would be the best way to gauge where I need to improve my skills.
Thanks
Dhiren

Sounds like you know basic XML pretty well (syntax, constructs, sensible usage, that sort of stuff). I would suggest focusing on XSLT (I had only one question on XSL-FO, I think, but a whole lot on XSLT stuff) and the DOM API. I'm not saying that you can just skip the rest of the objectives, but to me it seemed like most questions were related to either DOM or XSL.
Which would be the best way to gauge where I need to improve my skills.
Going through any mock exams you can find. Start from those listed on top of this forum. Whizlabs' XML certification product could also be worth a shot...
Surprisingly many questions were "case studies" where you're given a scenario (some company is about to build X) and then asked which of the given technologies or techniques would be most probably used by the team... Obviously there's always that one pair of answers from which you can't pick the last correct one without having second thoughts
It's not a difficult exam, though, if you have worked with XML.

Hi Lasse,
Thanks for your reply .
I dont see any information on how to purchase the exam in the US .
I want to the IBM site but no toll free number similar to Suns exams. They only have lots of links. I looked in the FAQ section too for javaranch. Maybe I missed something.
I also sent an email to the certify@us.ibm.com but no reply. Can you please tell me how to get a exam voucher for this exam.
Also which were the mock exams which u think I should take after a full prep .
I dont see many mocks exams freely available so I dont want to waste them before I am fully prepared.
Thanks
Dhiren

Hi Dhiren,
You can purchase the exam and register for the same at the same time through prometric web site
As far as the mock exams go, there are not may mock exams available
you can go through the links provided in the ranch !!!
Also, I would suggest you to take some exams before you are fully prepared as it helps you know, the areas in which you waould have to concentrate more !!! Thats my opinion !!!
Anyway, GOOD LUCK for the exam
hope this helps
