XML and XSD for excel data or csv

Any one has tried creating a generic xsd and then turn excel data or csv data in to xml. I tried, but the xsd file is not generic.
I would be very interested if anyone can show a small example.

Also any examples related to mapping rdbms data to xml data. I heard toplink is the one, but dont know much about it.
