Hi All,
I would like to share with you all that I have cleared IBM 142 XML 1.1 and related technologies with 98% today. This is my second attempt. On March 12th, I gave my first test and got only 33%. I was very confident that I would clear in the first attempt as I am working on Java and XML for the past 7 years. After seeing the questions, I realised that I need more preparation systematically. ******They test you the very basic concept******** I felt that working experience alone cannot make you feel comfortable in the exam without preparing for the exam.... From March 12th to March 22nd, I studied everyday for 3 hrs. I started with w3c tutorial and understood all the concepts mentioned there. Then studied professional XML, XSLT 2.0 reference and practical applications with java and XML... Out of these 3 books, professional XML helped me a lot.... I went through all the XML certification forum online and what ever info i get i noted down and practiced with some examples. So do not worry..You all can make it up...
***Some tips about the exam questions***
1. Try to understand under what circumstances SAX and DOM is used..Clearly understand the difference between two (atleast 2 questions you will get in this topic)
2. Under what circumstances DTD and schema is used (atleast 2 questions you will get in this topic)
3. Try to remember XPATH axis (definitely 1 question you will get in this) **for all the above 3, w3scools tutorial is more than enough)
4. try to work on some examples with schema and DTD (they test you only the basic skills like given schema, which xml declaration is correct etc and vice versa..you can expect atleast 3 to 4 questions from this section)
5. Try to work on XSLT (concentrate on conditional loop)
Concentrate on very basic concept rather than solving complex XSLT, XQUERY...
Hope this post helps uyou guys about the exam pattern..

All the best...

Regards Suja

Great score! Congrats!

Did you use the IBM provided tutorials or just the books you mention were enough?

Congratulations

well as matter of fact i am also interested in XML certificate but has some doubts, please help me in this regard.

1. What is the difference between 142 exam and 141 exam ?
2. Being almost new to XML what would be the best way to prepare.
3. Can you suggest any good book that covers the exam objectives such that it start with basics.

Thanks in advance,
Abhishek

Why do you beat around the bush. Just tell that you want a Head First for XML 1.1 Related Technologies. Any Takers for authoring ?? Bert, Kathy ?? I do hope you will pay me for advertising the brand name though.
I accept checks and chocolate.

IBM 141 exam was retired last june. Instead IBM has introduced 142 for XML and related technologies. They have introduced ebXML, XSLTC, XFORM, XPATH, etc in 142.
There is no specific book that covers all the exam objectives. You start with w3schools tutorial. You will get some idea and then start with XML bible and professional XML.
