While I can't judge whether the XML Master Exam or the 142 Exam is better, based on the tests I've taken, the XML Master Exam required a deeper level of knowledge about XML Schema and XPath compared to the 142 Exam. The 142 Exam demands a broad range of knowledge about XML design and various other related specifications. For a Web programmer like me, the content of the XML Master Exam is more directly related to actual development work.

Thanks for your input, Yoko.

XML Master - Basic or Professional that you said it requires deeper knowledge than IBM XML?

Required knowledge of XML Master Basic Exam and IBM 142 Exam are almost same. But IBM Exam is much easier than XML Master Basic. I think XML Master Exam is more credible measure of proficiency in xml.

Hi Kengkaj

I was making a comparison to XML Master Basic.

As Shinji says, IBM exam includes several questions requiring the same level of XML Schema and XPath knowledge as XML Master Basic; however, even if these questions could not be answered correctly, IBM exam could still be passed by correctly answering the remaining exam questions. XML Master Basic exam, on the other hand, has many questions regarding the validity of XML documents with respect to given schema examples, and translation results for given XSLT stylesheet examples. This exam would be difficult to pass without a solid understanding of XML Schema, XSLT, and XPath.

Hi,
I find xml Master Basic Certification worth to prepare for increasing your coding ability but it not all worth to go for certification exam, if you are spending from your own pocket.Since more challenging is time rather then question there may be situation due to lack of time and time pressure you may not attend all the question even though you prepared brilliant, for given time limit 50 question 60 min passing percentage is 70 Percent. Most of question takes more then 2 min to understand english and context.

This really check your mind processing speed rather then subject knowledge .
Always better to prepare for well recognised vendor certification like IBM ,SUN .
