I am trying to try the example from chapter 3 of developing java web services. I came to building the ejb part and then when the ant script comes to the servicegen part it says build failed. At least one of the errors I see is weblogic.webservice.core.rpc not found.
Now this books talks with regards to weblogic7.0 and I am using weblogig8.1. Looking at the weblogic APIs an initail search only shows weblogic.webservices.core.soap no rpc, so I am wondering what am I missing.

thanks for your help. I am feeling a little defeated as I am stumped in chap 3 itself.

thanks
kay

hi kay,

might better be if you use same version that the book uses...sometimes, lots of times, i wasted hours trying to make it work on a newer version. i stopped doing that. is that older version no longer available?

thanks jesus, for your reply. Guess I should do what you say, I was trying to tackle 2 birds at the same time, learn the latest version of app server while picking up web services.
Jesus, tell me I am finding it a bit dificult to get a handle on web services, offcourse I am not working on it daily, but is it my mental block, or do you think it takes a while to get into it. EJB concept was so easy for me, why this your experience too.

thanks
kay

sorry to hear your trouble

i dont know what to tell you as i am not preparing for the exam at the moment.

however, if i will take the exam, i will refer to valentin's mapping for help on ideal items to go through.

just for no reason, i read 'web services in 24 hours' and got a painless intro into web services. however this book gives knowledge on level 1 of 10 only. if would plan for the exam, i would do lots of handson. then focus on the exam.

actually, if i knew how to proceed and target the exam, i would have done it already, but i am unsure of how to proceed,

i am thankful that the 'web services in 24 hrs' gave me a good intro.

it has handson but i was not able to run them as they refer to older version of the sun ws dev kit.

i am not rushing on it(exam) but i hope something comes up soon. i have ordered the talked-about cert book, even if there is no definite date for its distribution.

Here is how I am proceeding. Keep reading chaps, eventually I feel I can tie them together. If there are mental blocks then I post them, this forum gives me strength and confidence, that doubts can be cleared for the most part. For examples I think I understand namespaces, but seeing so much emphasis on it got me worried if I had missed a point alltogether. So I posted this and got a reality check.
Anyways best of luck
