Just read the latest news wrt JAX-WS 2.0
How relevant is the Web Services Certification course with these new versions put fwd by Sun??

With application server at Project GlassFish, you should start planning to move to the new, more modern, and easier-to-implement model of Web services provided in the integrated stack, the combination of JAX-WS 2.0 (which supplants JAX-RPC), JAXB 2.0, and SAAJ 1.3. Even so, JAX-RPC implementations will continue to be available for a suitable length of time to support backward compatibility and orderly transitions from the Web services architecture in previous versions of Java WSDP and Project GlassFish.

I was thinking of taking the exam but if it is outdated then there is no pointing working on it? .Can someone guide me please??
Thanks,
Shivani

what is JAX-WS 2.0? If JAX-RPC is deprecated then why is it part of J2EE 1.4, which I belive is not a too old specification.

The relevancy of a certification (or any credential, for that matter) is in the eye of the beholder.

With regards to technology and things of that ilk, bear in mind that there's a lot of companies that aren't racing forward quite so quickly to embrace the newest standards. Plenty of firms are still using J2EE 1.3 and 1.4, or J2SE 1.4 when newer versions are out. While it might be nice to know the latest and greatest, it might not necessarily be what employers are looking for. (Look at Sun's very recent retirement of the SCJP 1.2 exam if you have any doubts. It lingered on this long.)

So, to answer the question in my own way, I think the current SCDJWS exam is going to be relevant for a while yet to come, regardless of any new technologies that come out in the meantime.
