hi all,

i want to take up scjp 1.4 exam. i wanted to know how long it will be relevant ( considering there is already scjp 5.0).

"relevant" in the sense that how long before scjp 1.4 certified cannot take up say SCDJWS . (currently the prequisite for SCDJWS is any edition of scjp) . will the prequisite continue to be any edition or could it change?

Currently any SCJP (1.2, 1.4, 5) qualifies as a pre-requisite for the next-level exams including the SCDJWS. So I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Prerequisites: Sun Certified Programmer for the Java 2 Platform (any edition)

The only question that remains is why you would currently prefer the SCJP 1.4 over the SCJP 5 given availability of preparation materials like the SCJP Sun Certified Programmer for Java 5 Study Guide.
