UDDI test registry

+Pie Number of slices to send: Send
Hi All,

I`m about to try UDDI using JAXR but the registries mentioned in RMH books seems to be offline. If I go to the provided IBM`s page, I'm redirected to a SOA page.

Can somebody provide me info on how I can connect to a UDDI test registry to practice some JAXR?

Thanks
Daniel

I see what you mean , the Sun tutorial points to an IBM one, and a microsoft one here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/technologies/idm/uddi/default.mspx
but I can't see a test registry in either.

There seems to be a SAP one, but I heven't tried it

another alternative might be to set your own up ? Let us know how you get on - its something I should probably try soon.

I do find the whole UDDI thing a bit over the top really - does anyone really use it ? - perhaps I'm missing something, but programatically looking up webservices assumes your program knows what to do with some random webservice when it finds one - 99% of the time you're going to know what webservice you want to connect to without all the overhead of UDDI - and how trustworthy is the validity of the information stored in a UDDI anway .... but thats going off topic.

I agree.

But its part of test and I'd like to practice.

Also, I belive that for companies with lots of webservices, using a UDDI internally it a way to increase manageability.

I've managed to get the SAP one working for queries with the J2EE tutorial.
Running the JAXRQuery example gives 3 results, but I can't get the publish example to work - I think its probably becuase I haven't installed a certficate from SAP, but I can't see how to do that - the tutorial gives instructions for the Microsoft site.
get this exception

following added to the JAXRExamples.properties file
# SAP
query.url=http://uddi.sap.com/uddi/api/inquiry/
publish.url=https://uddi.sap.com/uddi/api/publish/

Also the SAP registry is v3 - not sure what the difference is from v2. I'm not going to waste too much time on UDDI stuff - just make sure I understand the basic idea, and try and revise the operations etc. a couple of days before the exam.
